Make Polluters Pay: Holding Big Oil Accountable for Climate Damages
National Call & Action Party
April 22
4th Tuesday of the Month
7PM (Eastern) | 4PM (Pacific)
8-8:15PM Action Party
Big Oil has known about the climate crisis for decades—and they lied about it to protect their profits. Now, a growing movement is demanding justice. Across the country, states and communities are turning to the courts to make polluters pay for the damage they’ve caused. New York and Vermont have passed first-of-their-kind Climate Superfund laws, forcing fossil fuel companies to cover the billions in climate damages they’ve created, and more states are following their lead. At the same time, lawsuits against Big Oil are gaining momentum, with cities and states seeking to hold these corporations accountable for their deception and destruction.
As Trump and the fossil fuel industry push an agenda of more handouts to polluters, we have an opportunity to take a powerful, populist stand: Big Oil made this mess, and they should clean it up. Jamie Henn joins us to share what’s happening and what we can do in our states and beyond to support the effort.
