ECA’s Kick Off To The Climate Action Now App with Brett Walter
Join us to learn more about an exciting new App for your mobile phone developed by Climate Action Now (CAN), ECA’s newest partner. With this app, you can take actions in multiple spheres, tweeting, calling, and sending customized messages to your elected officials, corporations, the finance industry and more. Today, please download the Climate Action Now app from your phone’s App Store and use the ECA invite code 56 to plug into our actions. And you will earn points to plant trees for the actions you take!
Todd Weber, a leader of the ECA NorCal Chapter, has termed the Climate Action Now app an “activism power tool.” The secret sauce is that the app makes it extraordinarily easy for users to take a climate action on their phones, typically in just seconds, and earn points towards a real tree in the process. Fifty members of the NorCal chapter have taken over 18,000 actions in just a few months and earned 360 trees. Al Gore’s Climate Reality Project determined that activists with the CAN app took 29 times more action with the app than activists without it and, as a result, is rolling the app out to their entire chapter membership, as is ECA.
We will be joined by the Climate Action Now development team, they will begin with brief introduction to the app, then we’ll break into two groups, one for people who haven’t used the app, and another for those who have. Matthew Vollrath, Head of Content CAN will give the first group a short demo and help them get started using the app. Brett Walter, the Founder and CEO will answer questions from the existing app users, share CAN’s roadmap for future enhancements, and entertain suggestions for new features from the group. The two groups will reconvene before the call ends and take action together. If you haven’t joined an action party before, you won’t want to miss this call. It’s a lot of fun!
