The Better Together Sessions: Building Our Understanding of Equity and Justice in Our Climate Work
ECA is pleased to invite you to participate in The Better Together Sessions, monthly sessions designed to create space for exploring equity and justice in our climate work. Elders Climate Action is committed to putting climate justice and equity front and center as we move forward in action. We recognize we are at the beginning of this journey and that each of us is at a different stage of awareness and action. Each of the 7 sessions in the series, monthly June – December, will build upon the previous session to deepen our understanding, enhance our skills as climate activists, and help us become stronger allies.
Join us for this important monthly conversation, Second Thursday Monthly. Next Session: December 9, 6 PM (ET) | 3 PM (PT)
One of the primary motivations for addressing the climate crisis is the extent to which it contributes to racial and economic injustice, with roots in colonialism and oppression. The extraction economy has always viewed indigenous lands as assets to plunder and minority communities as suitable sites for waste and destruction, sacrificing black, brown and indigenous lives and all opportunities to prosper. This system is crushing our democracy, our people and our planet. It is up to us to end it. Elders Climate Action commits to an anti-racist agenda, with climate action and solutions that are rooted in justice and equity. We recognize that the climate fight involves choices about whom to include, whom to protect. We will examine our work through a lens of justice to assure that we recognize and free ourselves of racist and exclusionary practices and indifference in our climate work and beyond.
